[Editor's Cheers] 잡담 길들이기

사람이 죽는 순간 21그램의 몸무게가 줄어든단다. 무거운 어른도 마른 여자도 똑같이 동전 다섯 게의 무게가 죽는 그 순간에 줄어들고 영화에서도 그것을 사랑의 무게라고 했다. 살아 있을 때는 사랑할 수 있지만 죽으면 사랑은 딴 사람에게 가버린다. 그러면 그 21그램은 생명의 무게도 될까. 죽는 순간에 몸을 떠나는 생명. 몸을 떠나는 무게. 옆에서 누가 중얼거렸다. 그것은 영혼의 무게다. 몸이 죽으면 살아 있던 영혼이 죽은 몸을 떠난다.(아니면 그냥 탈수현상인가.)

죽은 사람의 몸에서 풀려나
공간을 자유롭게 떠다니는 무게여.
멀리 또는 가깝게 공중을 오가다
서로 만나면 뭉게어 구름이 되고
겨울의 너에게는 눈발 되어 날린다.
그렇구나, 뻐저리게 그리운 무게여
내리는 비를 보면 가슴 메고
눈밭을 지나야 네 몸에 이른다.

사랑이든 생명이든 영혼이든
한번쯤 혼자가 된 너를 만나고 싶다.
혼자 있는 시간도 만나고 싶다.
나이 들수록 주위는 희미해지고
나이 들어 관절 아픈 두 손을 가리고
이제 알겠다. 왜 저 꽃이 울고 있는지
바람 같은 현상으로 스쳐가는 것 보며
아쉬운 한기로 왜 고개 숙이는지./ 마종기 시인
