단국대, 캄보디아 감자보급 나선다

단국대학교(총장 장호성) 국제농업협력연구소는 캄보디아에 씨감자 생산 노하우를 전하며 현지 농가 소득 증대를 위한 연구를 수행한다. 단국대 국제농업협력연구소는 한국국제협력단(KOICA)의 민관협력사업 일환으로‘캄보디아 감자생산기술 연구역량 강화사업’을 캄보디아 현지에서 수행한다.

감자는 세계 4대 식량원으로 다른 작물에 비해 병충해 방제만 잘하면 많은 수확량을 기대할 수 있으나, 캄보디아는 감자 재배에 불리한 기후와 토지 환경, 생산 기술 및 인프라 부재로 소비량 대부분을 주변국에서 수입하고 있다.

단국대는 지난 2007년부터 올해까지 총 590여 명의 재학생 해외봉사단을 캄보디아에 파견해 봉사활동을 펼치며 이러한 현지 상황에 관심을 가져왔다. 이에 따라 국제농업협력연구소는 20일 오전 캄보디아 왕립농업대학교에서 워크숍을 개최하고 캄보디아 현지의 감자연구 현황과 전망 및 재배기술 등을 발표했다. 또 농촌진흥청 해외농업기술개발사업(KOPIA) 센터와 캄보디아 왕립농업대학교 등과 1년 동안 감자 생산기술 역량을 강화하기 위해 수행할 공동 연구과제도 소개했다.

이동진 교수(단국대 식량생명공학과)는 “감자 양액재배 기술을 통해 씨감자 생산 효율성 증대와 재배 체계를 확립하면 캄보디아의 감자 자급률을 높여 수입대체 효과를 극대화하고 현지 농가소득 증대에도 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다./경기일보
