먼저 시작에 앞서 당부로 드리는 말씀

어느 나라 건 마찬가지이지만 외국에서의 생활은 언어문제가 가장 큰 문제중의 하나입니다. 이곳 캄보디아도 마찬가지입니다. 일상생활에서 언어가 통하지 않으면 자신의 의사를 전달하지 못하는 것은 물론이고, 이런 의사소통간의 문제 때문에 생기는 오해 때문에 생기는 정신적 고통, 불편함은 이루 말할 수 없습니다.
 
그래서 많은 한국사람들이 거의 비명 수준으로 외마디 캄보디아어를 한국식으로 만들어서 부르짖다가 그것도 안되면 포기하는 경우가 허다합니다. 또 대부분이 ‘ 00야! ‘항’에 ‘떠으’ 해서 ‘ xx 찌란 찌란 뗀 오케이?’ 하지 않습니까? 그리고 대충 알아듣고 대충 의사전달을 하니 속는지 마는 지도 알 수가 없고요. 그런데 이런 일이 이해관계가 있는 일이라면 어떻게 되겠습니까?
 
외국어란 맞던 틀리던 무조건 입에서 튀어 나와야지만 된다는 것은 기본 상식이지요. 그래서 손짓발짓 캄보디아어를 아주 조금씩이라도 배워 보자는 것입니다. 티끌 모아 태산이라는 말도 있지 않습니까?
 
이 ‘까로나 손짓발짓 캄보디아어’ 는 문법적 체계 등을 무게 있게 다루지 않습니다. 정말 캄보디아어를 처음 배워 보고자 하는 분, 일상생활에 한마디 두마디, 급한 불부터 끄려는 분들을 위한 글입니다. 굳이 말한다면 제가 처음에 공부를 하면서 궁금했던 점 등을 이야기하면서 초보자가 생 기초부터 배우는 과정의 어려움을 조금 돕고자 할 따름입니다. 그럼 이제 시작할까요?
