캄보디아의 졸업식과 입학식

‘3월, 한국은 바야흐로 입학과 졸업시즌이다. 보통 2월 달에는 졸업식을 하고 3월초에 입학식과 함께 학교에 등교하기 시작하는 한국과 달리 캄보디아에서는 주로 9월이 입학 시즌이다. 한국과 다르게 입학할 때 특별한 행사와 선물 할인행사 등이 없고 간단히 학교 측에서 오리엔테이션을 진행한다.

또한 졸업은 2월 달 즈음에 하는데 딱히 특별히 정해진 달은 없다. 왜냐하면 주로 공립학교에서는 훈센 총리가 직접 졸업식에 참석해 졸업증명서를 나누어 주는데 훈센총리의 스케줄에 맞추어야 해서 날짜가 늘 똑같지 않기 때문이다. 그래서 졸업식도 학기 말 졸업시험을 치고 나서 일 년 정도 후에 치른다. 총리가 학교에 올 때 까지 졸업식 날짜를 기다려야 하는 것이다. 그래도 모든 대학의 졸업식에 총리가 직접 참석해 주는 문화는 총리가 직접 캄보디아의 인재 양성에 관심을 보이는 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 또한 졸업식장에서 가족, 친구들과 사진을 찍으며 축하하는 모습은 여느 나라와 다르지 않다./장진영
