캄보디아 사람들은 어떤 운동을 즐길까?

캄보디아의 날씨가 일년내 내 덥다보니 야외에서하는 스포츠를 즐기는데 어려움이 있다. 그래도 캄보디아 사람들도 건강과 재미를 위해 스포츠를 즐기는데, 캄보디아 사람 들이 가장 좋아하는 운동은 바로 배구와 축구이다.

특히 배구는 캄보디아에서 전국적으로 인기있는 종목이라 해도 과언이 아니다. 시골을 다니다보면 마을 하나당 최고 2~3개식 배구네트가 걸려 있는 것을 볼 수 있다. 축구처럼 넓은 공간을 필요로 하지 않고 그늘진 곳에 네트와 공만 있으면 즐길 수 있다보니 나이구분없이 즐길 수 있는 대중적인 스포츠가 된 것 같다. 사람들은 재미와 건강을 위해서 배구를 즐기기도 하지만, 일부는 내기 배구를 즐기기도 한다. 판돈은 매번 달라 지지만 보통 선수 한 사람당 5000리엘 내기부터 시작한다. 전세계적인 인기를 얻고 있는 축구의 인기는 캄보디아를 피해갈 수 없다. 그렇지만 체력소모가 많은 운동이라 그런지 젊은층들 사이에서만 즐기고 있다. 또한 지방보다는 도시에서 많이 즐긴다./재연재
